The award was handed out at the opening of the Vitalis conference in Gothenburg on 25 April. It is handed out to a municipality that uses the potential of digitalization as an important force in development of health and social care.
Västerås was one of five finalists and won the prize with the following motivation:
“With clear leadership, stated goals, an including perspective and great commitment, they have managed to move the positions and show the potential of digitalization for users, relatives and employees. A municipality that is working in partnership with those they exist for and who wants to be a city with people and technology in a successful symbiosis. A municipality that has demonstrated how digital solutions can contribute to a better life for people with cognitive impairment. A municipality who generously has shared its experiences and been a forerunner, and inspiration for many others! For a groundbreaking, courageous, methodical and sustainable work with residents and employees in focus – the prize to the ehealth municipality of Sweden 2017 goes to the City of Västerås. ”
“It is extremely gratifying to get this award for our many years of work on developing the technology in health and social care. It feels good that the award is based on the fact that we have made the journey along with those who the technology is for. We are proud and happy for the attention at the development and change in work methods we see among users and staff, “says Eva Sahlén, director of the Social Services Department.
